3. TNCPE and Baldrige Baldrige Performance Excellence Program
Established by Congress in 1987
Purpose: to enhance U.S. business competitiveness in a global economy by:
Identifying and recognizing role-model businesses
Establishing criteria for evaluating improvement efforts
Disseminating and sharing best practices
Internationally recognized and emulated
National resource
TNCPE is a state-wide version of the national Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. TNCPE has an excellent reputation across the U.S.
The Baldrige Program was established during the Reagan administration .
Provides a framework that any organization can use to improve overall performance.
Named for President Reagan’s Commerce Secretary Malcolm Baldrige, who believed that quality management was a key to U.S prosperity and long-term strength.
The Baldrige Award is the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive.

4. Framework for Performance Excellence
Common sense
Aligns the entire organization to achieve the mission and vision and live the values
Identifies gaps
Asks really good questions:
For example: “How do senior leaders set your organization’s vision and values?”
How can we do it better?
Works for any organization!
At its core, the Baldrige criteria for performance excellence
Helps leaders articulate the mission of their organization
And align people and processes to achieve that mission
The TNCPE award program identifies gaps in processes and results to help drive improvement.

5. Here is the FRAMEWORK for Performance Excellence.
It is the basis of your application and the basis of our review.
It is the framework for performance excellence. Everything that you do, day in and day out, can be tied to this model.
It’s a validated model that aligns all your management and improvement activities.
And produces higher quality products and services and better results.
If you’re satisfied with the results you’re getting now, than this framework may not be of interest to you.
But if you have room for improvement, this framework can help you pinpoint where you have gaps in your processes and results and focus on improving the areas that will have the greatest impact on your business.

You are currently at step #3 in the assessment process – you have submitted your application and are participating in the examiner site visit. You will be notified of your award level in November following the Panel of Judges meeting, and can expect to receive your feedback report before the end of the year.

As examiners, we have already completed independent reviews of your application. We then hosted a consensus meeting to pull all of our ideas together and to agree on what we most wanted to accomplish on site. Following the site visit this week, we will meet again to finalize your feedback report. 11

15. Examiner Rules of Conduct
Examiners are assigned to avoid conflict of interest
Examiners sign a Non-disclosure Agreement and Conflict of Interest Statement
Applicant information is confidential
No materials will be taken off-site
No contact or consulting with applicant after site visit
No gifts or considerations accepted
No results of the site visit or application assessment will be provided on- site
