3 TNCPE and Baldrige Baldrige Performance Excellence Program
Established by Congress in 1987 Purpose: to enhance U.S. business competitiveness in a global economy by: Identifying and recognizing role-model businesses Establishing criteria for evaluating improvement efforts Disseminating and sharing best practices Internationally recognized and emulated National resource TNCPE is a state-wide version of the national Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. TNCPE has an excellent reputation across the U.S. The Baldrige Program was established during the Reagan administration . Provides a framework that any organization can use to improve overall performance. Named for President Reagan’s Commerce Secretary Malcolm Baldrige, who believed that quality management was a key to U.S prosperity and long-term strength. The Baldrige Award is the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive. Mac Baldrige

4 Framework for Performance Excellence
Common sense Aligns the entire organization to achieve the mission and vision and live the values Identifies gaps Asks really good questions: For example: “How do senior leaders set your organization’s vision and values?” How can we do it better? Works for any organization! At its core, the Baldrige criteria for performance excellence Helps leaders articulate the mission of their organization And align people and processes to achieve that mission The TNCPE award program identifies gaps in processes and results to help drive improvement.

5 Here is the FRAMEWORK for Performance Excellence.
It is the basis of your application and the basis of our review. It is the framework for performance excellence. Everything that you do, day in and day out, can be tied to this model. It’s a validated model that aligns all your management and improvement activities. And produces higher quality products and services and better results. If you’re satisfied with the results you’re getting now, than this framework may not be of interest to you. But if you have room for improvement, this framework can help you pinpoint where you have gaps in your processes and results and focus on improving the areas that will have the greatest impact on your business.

6 Why TNCPE? “Easy way in” to understanding the Framework

9 ROI for Applicants TNCPE helps you answer these questions:
Is your organization doing as well as it could? How do you know? What – and how – should your organization change to get better results? Why do organizations submit applications to the TNCPE program? Because we can help you answer these questions: I think there are very few organizations that are doing as well as they could be doing — most organizations have room for improvement. But how do you know? And what will it take to improve or change? And meet the challenges facing your industry? Going through the TNCPE application process can help you answer these questions.
