Who is Eligible? 1L and 2L Programs Definition of Diversity Varies:
Choate – 1L candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity in the profession. Goodwin – Welcomes applications from 1L students who self-identify as a member of a historically underrepresented group in the legal profession (including racially and ethnically diverse students and/or LGBT students). Morgan Lewis – Eligible 2L applicants will have demonstrated academic excellence, have outstanding leadership skills, have an interest in employment with ML and have a demonstrated interest in promoting diversity at the firm and within the legal profession. Ropes & Gray: - 2L students with outstanding undergraduate and law school academic achievement, member of a historically underrepresented group in the legal profession, Skadden – 1L candidates whose life experience, demonstrated interests, and achievements can help enhance the firm’s commitment to diversity and client service. .

Tips Your personal statement should convey meaningful commitment to diversity and genuine interest in the opportunity for which you are applying Statements should be genuine, memorable, and go beyond surface level Your application should highlight leadership roles and involvement, during and outside of law school. In interviews, demonstrate maturity and confidence (you will be doing the work of a 2L)
