Application overview Verify the correct placement of sub-assemblies on a carrier Challenges Semi-automatic assembly or test stations, printed circuit board and other components have to be placed manually on the carrier. An incorrect or incomplete loading will affect quality and can damage the tools. Space is limited and the features to be detected can be very small. The process should only start when all sensors are triggered to confirm that the parts are present and correctly positioned. Solution SICK miniature photoelectric switches are immediately ready for use without adjustment. Advanced background suppression ensures the sensors are unaffected by the machine background. Multiple sensors can be connected to the same input ,which greatly simplifies the wiring on the carrier, a major advantage over the fiber optic alternative. Cross-talk mitigation in the sensor avoids the risk of disturbance from other sensors in background Each sensor includes a status LED to provide feedback to the operator.
