2. Rule 10
Use commas before and after the year when it is used with both the month and the day. Do not use a comma if only the month and the year are given.
Examples
I was born on October 10, 1988.
I was born in October 1988.

3. Your Turn! We will never forget what happened on September 11 2001.
I graduated high school in May 2007.

4. Rule 11
Use commas before and after the name of a state or a country when it is used with the name of the city. Do not use a comma after the state if it is used with a ZIP code.
Examples
I drive from Auburn, Alabama, everyday.
My parents’ address is 1597 Lauren Lane, Auburn, AL

I would really like to go to Paris France one day to see the Eiffel Tower.
My sister’s address is 1234 Austin Road Auburn AL

6. Rule 12
Use a comma or a pair of commas to set off an abbreviated title or degree following a person’s name.
Examples
Keith Bufford, M.D., is my family doctor.

Pete Marine D.V.M is my dog’s veterinary.

8. Rule 13 Use a comma to set off too when it means “also.” Example
I, too, love reading the class assigned novel.

Austin too wanted to fly on the plane to Jamaica. *

10. Rule 14
Use a comma after the salutation of a friendly letter and after the closing of both a friendly and a business letter.
Examples
Dear Dad,
Your pal,
Yours truly,

12. Rule 15 Use a comma to prevent misreading. Example
Instead of two, five teachers made the trip.
