In Hartsville, the sales tax is about 8% of the total purchase.
To calculate the sales tax, you simply multiply the total by 8%. Then add the tax to the total.
A tip is an amount of money given to a service provided as gratitude.
Proper etiquette states that a tip should be 15% of your total.
To calculate a tip, you simply multiply total cost of your purchase by 15%. Then add the amount to your total bill.

30. A Night Out on the Town
Today you will use your knowledge of percentages, to calculate the total cost of going on a date.
Throughout the room you will various examples of things you could do on this date.
Such as : see a movie, play paintball, take a trip to the zoo, play laser tag, see a concert, have dinner, etc…
The price of each activity is listed on the flyers, as well as any possible discounts.
It will be up to you to determine what activities you will participate in, and the final cost of this night out (including taxes, tips, and discounts).
We will use a standard 8% tax and 15% tip for all locations.
