3 A sphere is the set of all points in 3D space that are equidistant from the center. The radius of the sphere is a line joining the center to any point on the surface of the sphere. A diameter is any line joining two points on the surface of the sphere and passing through the center. If a plane and a sphere intersect as a circle, and that circle has the same center as the sphere, we call it a great circle A great circle divides a sphere into equal halves.
