1 2014 Antiquarian Limited Barossa Shiraz An Antiquarian is a collector of rare or ancient books and curios, a name befitting this rare and exclusive wine. Antiquarian wines, the pinnacle of quality, are hand crafted from only the very best parcels.  The 2014 Antiquarian Shiraz was selected from the finest Barossa grapes and matured in French oak barriques for 24 months.  The wine is glorious upon release and will develop even greater complexity with cellaring for up to 10 years. Alcohol % Closure Diam driven closure is selected for Antiquarian to deliver a consistent result of the highest quality. Fruit 100% Shiraz Region Barossa, South Australia Production three hundred and sixty six packs Bottled February 2017 Cellar years – to The 2014 Barossa vintage demonstrated the regions ability to thrive under challenge. Good winter and early spring rains filled the soils with 20-36% above average levels. A windy spring, and then in November unseasonal frost events resulted in lower yields. Late spring and summer were dry and warm. Harvest in the Eden Valley was underway by the end of February. The outcome culminated into very good quality, with generally lower than average crops. Reds are rich, and dense that suggests they will be age worthy. The grapes were grown at altitudes between 400 and 600 metres. Colour Deep crimson red showing brick edges. Nose Seasoned aromatics of spiced plum with dark chocolate and liquorice. Layers of vanilla, toast and dark fruits, by the careful use of French oak. Palate Sleek and polished, the intense and impactful dark fruit flavours, have silky tannins and refined toasted oak. The palate is full bodied, rich and refined. A rewarding finish to a wine of grace. Food Pairing: Slow roasted game, char grilled thick cuts of beef or tender beef cheeks and matured, richly flavoured cheeses.
