1 The battle of Iwo Jima Time: 1945 Feb 19-Mar 26 Casualties: U.S wounded, 6821 dead in total Japan captured, dead in total Leaders:U.S- Harry Schmitt Japan- Tadamichi Kuribayashi Result: U.S won and captured the Island of Iwo Jima Purpose: To open up the route to attack Japan mainland What Happened? The U.S army started with air strike, and at first, U.S command thought they could take an island of this size effortlessly. However, Iwo Jima had a special defense system. Later, the U.s army began bombarding, but it was not effective. Eventually, U.S army landed and advanced. The U.s army had the Japan army outnumber and outgunned. Hence, except the 1083 captured Japan soldiers, the rest ended up dead, and the U.S took over Iwo Jima Iwo Jima The island of Japan where the U.S Marines landed on and eventually captured during World War II

Enacted Date: March 11, 1941 Signed by: President Roosevelt Cost: Over 50 billion dollars Purpose: Provide supplies for U.S alliances without U.S itself being involved in wars. Result: Effectively ended the United States’ pretense of neutrality. What Happened? After WWII erupted, Germany had became a great threat to the United States. In consideration of U.S defense system and also in order to ensure it’s global position, United States were willing to sent out supplies for struggling countries, such as Great Britain. President Roosevelt stated that the U.S will sent out the supplies or tools to fight the war as long as they’re returned.

3 Battle of Stalingrad Date: 23 August 1942 – 2 February 1943 (5 months, 1 week and 3 days) Location: Stalingrad, Russia Result: Soviet victory Casualties: 2,000,000 What Happened? The Battle of Stalingrad is regard as the bloodiest battle in modern history. It’s a major battle on the eastern front of WWII in which Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city. Soviet Union won the battle, and this battle is considered to be Germany’s worse tactic failure. Germany made mistakes such as overestimated its number, dispersion of forces, and commanding mistakes. Hence, Germany lost the battle. Stalingrad The city in Russia, now known as Volgograd, in which the major battle of WWII, the battle of Stalingrad took place.
