2 Vocabulary Paleolithic Age- Old Stone Age. A period of time in human history characterized by the use of stone tools and the use of hunting and gathering as a food source. Nomad- a person who wonders from place to place. Systematic Agriculture- growing food on a daily basis Hunter-gatherer- a member of a nomadic people who live chiefly by hunting, fishing, and harvesting wild food. Neolithic Revolution (aka Agriculture Revolution)- the shift from hunting of animals and gathering of food to the keeping of animals and the growing of food on a regular basis. Domestication- the taming of animals for human use, such as work or as food. Civilization-A complex culture in which large numbers of human beings share a number of common elements.

Dates from about 10,000 to 8,000 years ago Polished tools such as wedges, saws, drills, chisels, and needles Period of systematic agriculture (growing food on a regular basis) and domestication (adapt for human use) of animals
