3 Utility Efficiencies Usage of utilities ultimately lies with the end user and your support and assistance in achieving a greater awareness is paramount, educating everybody to take responsibility. The following points will help: Ensure all doors, windows and skylights are closed throughout cold periods Always turn heating, lights, computers and monitors off when not in use Temperatures within the Appliance bay are to be kept at above freezing and set at no more than 10°C, turning a thermostat down by 1ºC can cut the heating bills by up to 10 per cent and save the Service around £40 per year

4 Please make every effort to support efficiencies and
Check the water temperature as detailed in the Water hygiene report. The cylinder thermostat shouldn't need to be set higher than 60ºC/140ºF Return to the station with the appliance fit for operational deployment, utilising the hydrant local to your call-out. Only boil as much water as you need (but remember to cover the elements if you're using an electric kettle). A dripping hot water tap wastes energy and in one week wastes enough hot water to fill half a bath, so use the log book to fix leaking taps and make sure they're fully turned off. Please make every effort to support efficiencies and Reduce energy usage
