7 All Achievement Components
Student was enrolled at the school during surveys 2, 3, and the first day of the relevant testing window Not a current (LY) ELL student OR If LY student, has been in the US for 2 or more years as of the 1st day of the FSA Writing window

8 ELA Achievement (FSA ELA)*
Student meets all requirements of β€œAll Achievement Components” Student was in grades 3-10 as of the Student Data Updates corrections window OR Student was below grade 3 but took an above-grade-level FSA Student did NOT have a passing score on the grade 10 FSA ELA prior to the Spring FSA ELA window * Students must have a valid score on this assessment to be included in school grades

9 Mathematics Achievement (FSA Mathematics)*
Student meets all requirements of β€œAll Achievement Components” Student was in grades 3-8 as of the Student Data Updates corrections window and was NOT enrolled in a mathematics EOC course OR Student was below grade 3 but took an above-grade-level FSA * Students must have a valid score on this assessment to be included in school grades

10 Mathematics Achievement (FSA EOC) or Science/Social Studies Achievement (NGSSS EOC)*

12 Learning Gains Available for ELA & Mathematics only
All students who count in the denominator for achievement will also count in the denominator for learning gains, as long as they have a score on the state test in the same subject area in the prior year. Students in the country for less than 2 years as of the first day of the writing component of FSA ELA will not be included in the achievement component but will be included in the learning gains denominator as long as they have a score on the state test in the same subject area in the prior year or on Access for ELLs

13 Learning Gains for Lowest 25*
Student was in the learning gains denominator Student had a percentile rank of less than on the prior year’s state assessment Note: Percentile rank is calculated based on prior year’s state assessment independent of current grade and course. Example: Current Year Assessment Prior Year Assessment Prior Year Scale Score Percentile Rank Lowest 25? FSA Math Grade 6 302 15.38% Yes FSA Math Grade 7 * List of lowest 25 students is located in your school’s AAE share folder in OneDrive.

14 Special Circumstances
ELL students who are in the country for less than 2 years as of the first day of the Writing window are: NOT eligible to be included in achievement components Eligible to be included in learning gains components

15 Acceleration Components
Middle School Acceleration (MSA) College & Career Acceleration (CCA)

16 Middle School Acceleration (MSA)

Note: Industry certification is lagged by 1 year.

17 College & Career Acceleration (CCA)*
Student was in the graduation rate numerator Note: This component has a 1 year lag * Credit earned outside the state is not included

18 Graduation Component 1 year lag

19 Graduation Student was an incoming 9th grader at a public school district in Florida in Fall membership 4 years prior to graduation year OR Student was an incoming transfer from out of state or private/home school in Florida on the same schedule to graduate as the current graduation cohort Student was not removed from the cohort with a withdrawal code of W3A*, W3B*, W04, W24, or W12 *W3A and W3B codes excluding DJJ facilities. Students who transfer to a DJJ facility using these codes will still be included in the denominator.

20 School Grades Numerator & Denominator Activity
Work in a group at your table to answer the scenario questions, using the handouts in your folder.

21 Achievement & Learning Gains Denominator Scenarios
Maria is a full year enrolled, retained 10th grade student who scored a level 3 on the Grade 10 FSA ELA last year. Should she re-take the Grade 10 FSA ELA this year? If she re-takes the FSA ELA, will she count in the denominator for the ELA achievement component? Will she count in the denominator for the ELA learning gains component? Kristen is a full year enrolled, retained 5th grade student. Should she retake the Grade 5 SSA? Will she count in the denominator for science achievement? She should not re-take the FSA ELA.
