 Non-FCAT Components  Review FCAT Components 2

1. Special diploma students are considered graduates in the NGA Graduation Rate method. 2. Students included in the Accelerated Coursework components calculations are enrolled in the school during survey 2 and 3. 3. Schools will gain one point in non-FCAT components for each annual percentage increase from the prior year. 4. College Readiness is a subset of the NGA overall graduation rate cohort. 5. Calculations in mathematics for FCAT components are based on the Grade 10 FCAT only. 3

Q1. If students enter in second semester as a 11th graders, do they still count in the graduation rate cohort? 30

Q1. If students enter in second semester as a 11th graders, do they still count in the graduation rate cohort? A1. Yes, entering transfer students are included in the count of the class with which they are scheduled to graduate, based on their date of enrollment. 31

Q2. If ESOL students are transferred to Adult Ed. and then withdrawn to their native countries before graduating, are they considered drop outs or are they removed from the graduation rate? 32

Q2. If ESOL students are transferred to Adult Ed. and then withdrawn to their native countries before graduating, are they considered drop outs or are they removed from the graduation rate? A2. The students are removed from the cohort as a code W26. 33

Q3. If special diploma students meet the requirements for graduation, but do NOT pass the FCAT, are they considered graduates? 34

Q3. If special diploma students meet the requirements for graduation, but do NOT pass the FCAT, are they considered graduates? A3. Special Diploma students do not have to pass FCAT to be considered graduates. They must meet criteria established based on their diploma option: Option 1 or 2. (See pupil progression plan) 35

Q4. If students are in their 5th year of HS and therefore already counted in the graduation cohort the previous year, are they also removed from the calculation for Accelerated Coursework Participation and Performance? 36

Q4. If students are in their 5th year of HS and therefore already counted in the graduation cohort the previous year, are they also removed from the calculation for Accelerated Coursework Participation and Performance? A4. The students would count in the Accelerated Coursework cells but not in the Graduation cells or the College Readiness cells. 37

Q5. If students walk during graduation with a certificate of completion, can they complete the ACT over the summer to receive a regular diploma and count for graduation status? 38

Q5. If students walk during graduation with a certificate of completion, can they complete the ACT over the summer to receive a regular diploma and count for graduation status? A5. Yes. Survey 5 determines the graduation status. 39

4. College Readiness is a subset of the NGA overall graduation rate cohort 5. Calculations in mathematics for FCAT components are based on the Grade 10 FCAT only. 128
