1 REMINDER: Complete independent practice work in related Study Island topics Introducing and Closing Topics Supporting and Developing Topics Organizing Ideas Transitions Task, Purpose, Audience Precise Language and Sensory Details **Students should complete a minimum of 10 questions for each topic. **ALL Blue Ribbon practice work must be completed by M, December 19, (5 pts for each BR = 30pts) **An assessment including questions from each of the six topics will be completed for a Q2 grade. This assessment will be completed in class on W, December 21, 2016.

How are paragraphs formed? Paragraphs are formed with sentences, of course, but the proper arrangement of these sentences is important. A paragraph should begin with a topic sentence. Several supporting sentences should be added to provide the detail and examples necessary. Finally, the paragraph should have a concluding sentence. How can I develop stronger paragraphs? *Focus on a main idea. Make sure you understand the task, audience, and purpose. *Develop the content. Provide explanations, details, and examples that support your main idea. *Organize your ideas—topic/support/conclusion. *Be aware of style. Write good, solid sentences. Vary your sentence type, structure, and length. Use strong, precise vocabulary and use transitions. *Clean up any conventions errors. Proofread, edit, and revise carefully!!
