How are paragraphs formed?
Paragraphs are formed with sentences, of course, but the proper arrangement of these sentences is important. A paragraph should begin with a topic sentence. Several supporting sentences should be added to provide the detail and examples necessary. Finally, the paragraph should have a concluding sentence.
How can I develop stronger paragraphs?
*Focus on a main idea. Make sure you understand the task, audience, and purpose.
*Develop the content. Provide explanations, details, and examples that support your
main idea.
*Organize your ideas—topic/support/conclusion.
*Be aware of style. Write good, solid sentences. Vary your sentence type, structure,
and length. Use strong, precise vocabulary and use transitions.
*Clean up any conventions errors. Proofread, edit, and revise carefully!!
