1. Road to Graduation
GRADUATION IS JUST THE BEGINNING At Midland ISD, it’s our mission to prepare you for life after high school. It’s a mission that starts in kindergarten and doesn’t end until you have that diploma in your hands. We want to provide you with the support you need to stay on the road to graduation!

2. Credits & Attendance
Every course in high school counts as a credit. You can earn half of a credit each semester.
You must earn a 70 or higher for credit.
You must retake any classes you fail.
Attendance Policy- students must be in attendance 90% of the time to earn credit regardless of their grade in the class.

3. Graduation tracker
To be considered on track toward graduation you need:
At least 6 full year course credits in courses aligned to your grad plan
No more than one F in a core class
Pass the Algebra, Biology, English I, English II, and US History End of Course exams (EOCs)
Start of Year (SOY)*Semester (SEM)*End of Year (EOY)

4. SB 149
Senate Bill 149 currently requires school districts to convene individual graduation committees (IGCs) for 11th and 12th grade students who have failed no more than two of the five EOCs at or after the end of the students’ 11th grade year. NOTE: students must still meet the curriculum requirements for their grad plan. Talk to your counselor to see if you could be eligible to graduate and receive a diploma via the IGC.

6. Grad Plans available to all students
Foundation High School Program
A flexible graduation program that allows students to pursue their interests.
The program contains up to four parts:
• A 22-credit foundation program which is the core of the new Texas high school diploma
• Five endorsement options that allow students to focus on a related series of courses
• A higher performance category called Distinguished Level of Achievement
• Performance Acknowledgments that note outstanding achievement

7. Endorsements = choices
Endorsements are a lot like a college major. It means you select the set of core classes and electives that you want to take.
Students entering the 9th grade must indicate the endorsement plan they would like to follow, but it may be changed or an endorsement can be added at any time.
To earn an endorsement, complete the curriculum requirements for that particular endorsement, including a 4th credit of math and science and 2 additional elective credits.

8. Enhancements for outstanding performance
Distinguished level of achievement = Eligible for top 10% automatic admissions to texas public universities

Bilingualism and Biliteracy
Advanced Placement Exams
PSAT, ACT-PLAN, SAT, or ACT
Business or Industry Certificate or License

9. Transcripts... Your transcript is your academic achievement record.
It shows which courses you’ve taken, when, and if credit was earned.
It also shows your GPAs, Graduation Plan, and Class Rank

10. Midland College Legacy scholarship
Students can be awarded $1, per semester toward tuition and fees!

Apply Online
Complete 40 hours of community service at an approved Legacy Volunteer Agency and submit a time record with approved signatures.
Graduate (Yay!) and turn in a final high school transcript showing 2.75 GPA (unweighted) from a high school in Midland County.
