3 We responded promptly to the areas needed to improve.
Ofsted Ofsted have upheld some complaints made by the school concerning the conduct of the team and the use of their evidence base. The inspection The report The action HMI A really positive start to the year. HMI recognised our strengths and approved our plans for moving forward. Checks were made and inaccuracies were corrected hence the delay in the report. BUT we are not ‘ofsted deniers’. We responded promptly to the areas needed to improve. We drafted in the local authority to carry out various checks and help us prioritise some key actions. The school’s leadership reflected on how to be more effective at improving teaching and governors looked at restructuring their committees.

4 2015 outcomes More pupils making expected progress than last year.
The gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers closed. More high achievers in maths and combined subjects than last year.

Achievement Teaching Behaviour Leadership At least 85% of all pupils achieve ARE in reading, writing and maths; with all groups of pupils making at least expected progress All teaching is at the expected standard with at least 50% of teaching consistently exceeding expected standards. Hillcrest is a valued community where children are engaged with their learning, safe and happy. Leaders are the key drivers of school improvement. Achievement Teaching Behaviour Leadership Children succeed because teachers know what each child needs. Teachers are incredibly skilled at teaching engaging and interesting lessons. We are all proud of Hillcrest and we work together in helping each other stay safe and happy. Leaders care about the school and know how best to help everyone to improve. We have invested a lot in improving the school’s environment, particularly the outside areas. But we are always looking to make further improvements . Parent Focus Groups Over the last three years we have run several parent focus groups to discuss many aspects of our school community. These have included: Equalities, bullying and e-safety.
