The CAS Project Student Responsibilities

2 The CAS Project Can be from one or more of the three strands Students must work collaboratively Must involve research and planning

From the time of planning to its conclusion, the project must last at least one month

4 Rationale behind the key changes
To encourage students to choose other strands of CAS than service To encourage students to work together on projects to require students to use the CAS stages model in planning and executing the project

6 Investigation Students identify personal interests, skill, and talents gathering information and determining the purpose for their CAS experience. Interview Media Personal experiences

7 Preparation Organize the plan with clarification of roles, responsibilities, timelines, and ongoing development of any skills needed to complete the plan. Reflect!

8 Action Implementation of the plan taking the form of

9 Reflection - Ongoing throughout process

11 Examples of CAS Projects based on Strands
Creativity: A student group plans, designs and creates a mural. Activity: Students organize and participate in a sports team including training sessions and matches against other teams. Service: Students set up and conduct tutoring for people in need.

12 Examples of CAS Projects based on Strands
Creativity and activity: Students choreograph a routine for their marching band. Service and activity: Students plan and participate in the planting and maintenance of a garden with members of the local community.

13 Examples of CAS Projects based on Strands
Service and creativity: Students identify that children at a local school need backpacks and subsequently design and make the backpacks out of recycled materials. Creativity, activity, and service: Students rehearse and perform a dance production for a community retirement home.
