8. Contingent Theme Goals
Youth participation in:
Selecting a theme
Creating high-level designs, and
Selecting color choices.
Adult leaders will take care of the logistics with the vendor.
Be tradeable. Be thrifty. Be timely.

9. Selecting a Theme
The design must be approved by BSA so anything scout-appropriate is acceptable.
Trademark—some patches use licensed or trademarked elements. This must be approved in writing and takes time—but not impossible.
Some general themes:
Linked to Live Scouting’s Adventure or activities at The Summit
Council-specific (Les Paul guitars)
Historical (Iron Brigade)
Corporate sponsored (Harley Davidson for Three Harbors)
Pop culture/current topics

Talk to your scout friends—ask them to join you
How many do we need to fill the contingent?
12 Scouts
9 Venturers (if we take a second patrol)
(no two scouts from the same home unit)
