4 Are there any similarities between the U. S
Are there any similarities between the U.S. and Uruguay in regards to gender equality or inequalities? What do you think the U.S. has done to promote equality in the workplace for both genders? (If possible, BE SPECIFIC.)

5 Power Distance & Gender Inequalities
Watch this quick video about power distance. Then, in your pairs, attempt to answer the following questions: What are the factors that define a person’s status in a high power distance culture? In high-power distance cultures, how would you rank these factors differently? Power Distance & Gender Inequalities

6 Power Distance, Gender Gap, & Income Investigation
Look at the tables I have provided to you. In groups of NO MORE THAN FOUR (4), discuss how the power distance scores differ from that of America. Is there any correlation between power distance or gender gap scores to income level? Power Distance, Gender Gap, & Income Investigation

7 Now, using those same tables, pick two variables to focus on and create a hypothesis about them.
Use the information in the tables determine the validity or improbability of your hypothesis. Can you find any correlation between the two variables?

8 Connecting & Comparing
Look at the Uruguay gender gap-power distance scores. Does the video on gender inequality in Uruguay that we watched earlier confirm or weaken these scores? Connecting & Comparing

9 Read the following article by Fitzpatrick entitled, “Why Do Women Still Earn Less Than Men?”
Answer the following questions: Is there anything from this article that surprised you? Do some of the facts in the article support the U.S. gender gap rank number? If yes, how? In no, why not? 10 Use the article written by Acosta titled “Gender Stereotypes Still Firmly Entrenched Despite Progress” to help you answer the following questions in your journal. Do public efforts in gender equality always translate to equality in the private sphere? The Global Gender Gap examines the gap between men and women in 4 fundamental categories: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, political empowerment and health, and survival. What do these categories mean as far as capturing the possible gender inequalities in women’s private lives?
