3 Application Process The application process for Spring and Summer 2017 applicants will remain the same as previous semesters ApplyTexas application College of Education application Future considerations – make sure all materials, such as GRE scores are actually required. Conditional admission based on GRE scores will likely not be an option.

4 College of Education Application
Applicants must have an eRaider account to begin this application They are able to upload all requested materials except recommendation forms Recommendations can either be completed via an online form or submitted to us to be uploaded. After all materials are received by the Graduate School and the College of Education, applications are “Deferred to Department” and made available for faculty review

If you have already reviewed an application, the “Review” option will still be available. However, you will receive an error message at the top of your screen (see above screenshot).

7 Submitting a Departmental Decision

8 Readmission Process If students are applying for readmission within three semesters of last being enrolled, they will need to submit a readmission form to the Graduate School and a $60 fee After three semesters, a new ApplyTexas application is needed Any additional materials (e.g. statement) required are left up to the department’s discretion Once the OGER office is aware of a readmission request, the student’s advisor and/or program coordinator will be contacted to seek approval for readmission

9 Admission Letters Official admission letter
Issued by Graduate School through Raiderlink after admission decision is processed Available for the student to download through the beginning of their first semester College of Education admission decision letter ed to applicant by our office Advisor is cc’ed on the and named in the letter

10 Important Items of Note
Students are notified when a departmental decision has been reached on the COE website via an automated . However, official admission comes from the Graduate School.

11 How do I know who my advisees are?

12 Degree Plans M.Ed. A master’s degree plan must have a minimum of 36 hours to meet Graduate School requirements. A maximum of 6 hours can be transferred in. Program policies regarding transfer courses (e.g. age of coursework) may vary. Courses transferred from an outside institution may not have a grade lower than a B. Forms must be submitted by the advisor, not the student. A digital signature, or confirmation is required for the degree plan to be submitted to the Graduate School.

Ph.D./Ed.D. A doctoral degree plan must have a minimum of 72 hours to meet Graduate School requirements. A maximum of 30 hours (included in the 72 hours) can be transferred from another institution. If a master’s is from Tech, 36 hours can be accepted; master’s coursework needs to be listed in the transfer credit section; equivalencies do not need to be listed for TTU courses. If courses are transferred from an outside institution, advisors are responsible for determining equivalencies. Transfer credits must have a course number equivalency listed. They cannot be listed only as “elective.”

Certification/Graduate Certificate Students Certification students need to be in contact with Donna Brasher Graduate Certificate degree plans must have a minimum of 15 hours to meet Graduate School requirements. Students must have a certificate program plan/degree plan on file in order to receive their certificate. Students must file an intent to graduate in their final semester in order to get their certificate.

15 Change of Degree Plan Change of degree plan must be filed for the following instances: Course substitutions. Change of graduation date. Change of advisor Change (add/delete) chair/committee Change of thesis/dissertation title.

16 Graduation Semester All students (M.Ed., Ph.D., Ed.D., GCRT) must file an intent to graduate. Students will not be able to do that on their own. Comprehensive Exams All M.Ed. Students must apply through the OGER office. Comprehensive “exam” options for graduating M.Ed. Students: Exam (national or program-specific) Thesis Research Paper Pilot Project (Special Education only) Alternate

Non-thesis students must be enrolled in at least 1 hour of coursework in the semester of graduation. Thesis students must be enrolled in at least 3 hours of 6000 (not 7000), and must be continuously enrolled while in 6000 hours. (6 hours of 6000 are required.) 6000 hours in the final semester must be given a letter grade (no CR, X, or P). Thesis approval form must come to the OGER office. Proposal/Dissertation steps.php Notify the Graduate School 3 weeks in advance of upcoming dissertation defense. Schedule a room with Jan Ward. Send proposal/defense announcement to Neil Knauth through the following link: Advisors need to turn the oral defense approval form in to the OGER office. Students who are proposing must register for at least one hour of hours. Students who are defending their dissertation must register for at least 3 hours of 8000 hours. Students must be continuously enrolled once they start taking 8000 hours. A letter grade must be given for 8000 hours in the final semester (no CR, X, or P.)

Students must be enrolled in at least four hours Unless: Graduation Term Approved Internship Approved Fellowship/Scholarship Student teaching this term Registration Issues: OGER office Ex.
