A drawing that shows a real object with accurate sizes reduced or enlarged by a certain amount (called the scale).
Something that is drawn to scale has the same proportions has the original.

1”=1’ (every 1 inch of the drawing represents 1 foot in real space)
½”=1’ (every ½ inch of the drawing represents 1 foot in real space)
¼”=1’ (every ¼ inch of the drawing represents 1 foot in real space)
There are many scales that can be used but these are the easiest and most common.
The scale that is used depends on what is being drawn to scale, the level of accuracy and how much detail is needed.
