The “Seven” Seas This is an ancient term, over 1000 years old!
Today, we will look at three seas, four oceans and seven continents and the activities of pirates You will need seven different coloured pencils, one for each continent

Use Google Maps or Images to find the Caribbean Sea
Label the Caribbean Sea neatly on your map

Add a compass to your map to show direction
The compass points are: North East South West An easy way to remember is ‘Never Eat Soggy Weetbix!’

North America The islands that make up the Caribbean are part of North America. Use Google Maps or Images to help find countries in North America North America is made up of: Alaska (a state belonging to the United States of America) Canada Greenland The United States of America Mexico The islands of the Caribbean Colour these countries all one colour on your map and label them North America

Pirates in the Caribbean often sailed to South America as well.
This is because lots of Aztec gold was once found there.

South America The continent of South America is all the other land attached to North America Colour this in a different colour and label it South America You can use the internet for extra assistance

Sir Francis Drake A famous pirate, also a nobleman and honest sailor
Lived between Worked for Queen Elizabeth I of England Is known to have buried treasure in Panama Which ocean would he have sailed across to get from England to Panama? Write this ocean on your map

Europe England is a country in Europe
Everything east of the North Atlantic Ocean (including Iceland) is in Europe until you reach Russia. The Mediterranean Sea is the southern border Colour in Europe

The Mediterranean Sea While there are no actual pirates, some of the sailing and behaviour is of a terrible standard Which continent is to the south of the Mediterranean Sea?

Africa Find the continent of Africa on Google Maps or Images
Colour in Africa remembering that: Madagascar is in Africa The Red Sea is its border to the east Egypt is in Africa but everything east of Egypt (including Jordan) is not in Africa Label the continent

Modern day pirates These exist off the east coast of Africa, near a country called Somalia Which ocean would they be sailing in? Write this on your map

Asia The continent of Asia shares a country with Europe and it is the largest continent! Use Google to colour in and label Asia: Everything from Turkey and the Ural Mountains to the east is in Asia from Turkey, including India all the way to Japan Everything from Russia to Indonesia is in Asia, Papua New Guinea is not in Asia

The East India Company Had absolutely nothing to do with the Caribbean (the movie is a bit fluid with the truth) The original East India Company worked in most of southern Asia

Australasia Colour these countries in and label the continent
Australasia (sometimes called Oceania) is made up of: Australia New Zealand Papua New Guinea The Pacific Islands e.g. Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands Colour these countries in and label the continent
