If your child returns to school with any special instructions, a doctor’s note must be provided to the nurse.
A child becomes tardy at 9:15
Four late arrivals equal one absence

9. Irwin School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Regular school hours are 9:05 a.m.-3:20 p.m. Students are expected to be at school at 9:05 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Early Morning Program. The supervised early morning program can be arranged by contacting the Community Programs Department at :

10. Walkers:
Walkers can enter school from either the back parking lot or the Kindergarten doors each morning.
Walkers will ALWAYS be dismissed from the back parking lot at the end of the day. For the month of September, please bring your family name card with you until our teachers get to know you.

11. Bus Riders
For Transportation Information: Please check Parent Access after August 28th for your child’s bus information for the school year.
Please plan to arrive at your child’s bus stop at least 10 minutes early for both drop off an pick up.
Bus riders enter and exit the building through the Kindergarten Doors.
If for any reason your child will NOT be taking the bus home on a given day, please contact us BEFORE 3pm with any transportation changes.

12. Car Riders
Drop off for Car Riders takes place at the rear of the school each morning between 8:50-9:10
Pickup begins each day at 3:20 in the loop of the rear lot. Please make sure you have your family name sign clearly shown either in your car window or attached to your sun visor. This makes pick up go much more quickly.

13. Lunch
Students enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) If your child is buying lunch, they will receive a card from their teacher with their PIN # on it (Adults are available to assist them)
Students can always use cash to purchase lunch
IOU process/can be paid in the lunchroom

14. Birthday/School Celebrations
Food is never permitted to be sent into school, instead parents can donate a book to the classroom.
Foods on the “approved district list are purchased by the PTA for all celebrations.”
