What is the difference between the two?
Professionals:
Get paid for playing
It's their full-time job
Amateurs:
Don't get paid for playing
Do it when they are not working
For enjoyment
Olympic Games were meant to be for amateurs BUT WHY???
TRADITION!!!
Winning = medals and recognition.
But the difference between amateur and pro became blurred.
Sportspeople were rewarded for their success with more than medals
