2 Introduction: Leaders use power in attaining group goals Leaders achieve goals, and power is a means facilitating their achievement. Leadership is the process of influencing and supporting others to work enthusiastically toward achieving objectives. Leadership is an important part of management. Managers also plan activities, organize appropriate structures and control resources

3 Statement of the Problem:
This study aims to determine the role of power in effective leadership as perceived by the leaders of Prince Mohammad University Main Campus.

4 Objectives of the Study:
Determine the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: age, gender, and level in organization Determine the perception of the respondents in their own sense of power at work in their organization. Determine the respondents’ perception of power in terms of: sources of power, how leaders use power , how leadership can be improved through effective use of power with the boss, peers and directs report, situations in which power is exerted in using relationship power and information power.

5 Hypothesis: their organization.
There is no significant difference in the respondents’ own sense of power at work in their organization. There is no significant difference in the respondents’ perception of power.

6 Significance of Study:
The study will provide knowledge about how leaders use power relevant for the school administrators and leaders to improve their leadership through the effective use of power. The study will serve as a future reference for the researchers to do further studies to help the organizations and individuals to improve more their leadership

7 Scope and Limitation of the Study:
The focus of the study is to know how the leaders in Prince Mohammad University Main Campus perceived the role of power in effective leadership so they can have compelling knowledge and can understand how leaders use power; thereby improving their leadership through the effective use of power. It will also look in the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: age, gender, and level in organization

This review of literature and related studies supports the conceptual framework under consideration. It also includes related studies that have contributed to the development of this research

11 The Role of the Organization:
Individual efforts are important to leverage power in order to be a more effective leader, but the organizations also play a crucial role (Bal et al, 2008). In a research conducted by BAL Et Al (2008), 60 percent of the leaders agreed that organizations empower people at all levels, far fewer agreed that organizations were teaching leaders how to leverage their full power

13 Data Gathering: Using the descriptive method, the selected respondents will be given questionnaires with the following inquiries: sources of power; how leaders use power, how leadership can be improved through effective use of power, situations in which power is exerted and the organizational role in providing support. The questionnaires will be checked, tallied, tabulated, presented, and interpreted.

14 Statistical Analysis:
Frequency distribution, percentage and mean will be used to summarize and describe the responses in terms of: age, gender and level in the organization, perception of the respondents in their own sense of power at work; and the respondents’ perception of power in terms of: sources of power, how leadership can be improve through effective use of power, situations in which power is exerted and the organizational role in providing support.
