Earth Day – April 22nd 1970: The First Earth Day April 22nd, 1970 20 million Americans took to the street and launched the modern environmental movement. Earth Day was crucial in passing the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act 2015: Earth Day’s 45th Anniversary It’s Our Turn To Lead Celebrated in 192 countries by over 1 billion people Largest civic observance in the world Continues to be an important tool to engage the public and grow the green economy
