2 What is the Earth Day Network (EDN)? The Earth Day Network (EDN) is an organisation that’s goal is to inform and energize populations so that they will act to secure a healthy future for themselves and their children. Channelled by the energy of the anti-war protest movements, EDN held its first Earth Day on the 22 nd of April in 1970, where 20 million Americans launched a modern environmental movement. This movement led to the: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, The Endangered Species Act and many other ground- breaking environmental acts.

3 EDN currently works with over 22,000 partners in 192 countries. EDN is also a recognised leader in creating civically orientated innovative programs with partners outside the environmental movement to tackle new challenges. Today more than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day around the world. This April 22 nd 2014 will be the 44 th Anniversary of Earth Day!
