Mission Statement The Staff, Administration and Board of Education of Manhattan District 114 are committed to promoting excellence in student achievement and student behavior, enabling children to become successful life-long learners. This slide contains the Manhattan School District #114 Mission Statement. All of us remain committed to not only helping our students become the very best students they can be, but the very best person and citizen. I believe with how our students and their families answered the call this past fall after the tornado hit our area, and the way they always demonstrate a caring attitude and nature during the holidays and whenever asked, it is clearly evident that this is a Mission Statement that everyone in Manhattan, “Lives.” Manhattan School District 114

District Goals Becoming One All Decisions Promote Student Success Respect and Collaboration Among ALL Consistent and High Expectations Literacy for All Everyone is a Teacher of Literacy Promote Literacy in ALL Forms Professional Learning for All Increasing Professional Development for ALL Focused and Consistent Training for ALL Building Capacity in Our Own People Data for All Continue to Develop a Culture of Data-Based Decisions Celebrate Achievement Encourage Growth for ALL This past summer, the administrative team worked on developing goals that closely mirrored the mission statement and beliefs of the district…and what we believed were the greatest priority for our staff and students. What you see on this slide is what we finally ended up with…4 Goals that drive each decision we make this year and into the future. As we move forward, we will continue to reevaluate these goals as well as develop new goals as necessary. We believe that these goals represent the very foundation from which our continued success will build on. Since developing the goals, we have worked hard on developing an Action Plan to further ensure that we hold ourselves accountable for establishing a lasting culture for years to come that will last beyond all of us. 5 Student Enrollment Trends
Manhattan's student population has been demonstrating steady growth over the past several years increasing another 36 students based on the Fall counts. The Student enrollment on March 8th was 1435. LW Area Enrollment Comparison Feeder School 5-Year % Change Manhattan 1387 1423 +2.6% Mokena 1592 1574 - 1.2% Frankfort 2509 2491 - 0.7% Summit Hill 3185 3096 - 2.8% New Lenox 5273 5197 - 1.5% Manhattan’s student population has stayed relatively stable over the previous 5 years, before showing a marked increase this past year. Manhattan is the only district in the Lincoln Way area to show an increase in enrollment during this time period, while all others lost enrollment, with the exception of Frankfort, which remained mostly unchanged. The past two years have seen Manhattan enroll its two largest Kindergarten classes. At our highest point this school year, our total enrollment has been 1355 students. We will be keeping a very close watch on the enrollment trend .If the growth continues, then it could mean that there will be a need in the future, for another building or addition to the Manhattan Schools. Manhattan School District 114

6 Current Enrollment March Student Enrollment – 1435
Enrollment stands at 1435 students, up 48 students from our Fall enrollment count on Sept. 30. We expect the enrollment to continue to increase slightly before the end of the year possibly, depending on if new families moving into Manhattan choose to change schools prior to the end of the year. Projecting an increase for as the Village projects a possible 100 new homes to be built. New homes going up in Sunset Lakes, Leighland Bridge, Western Springs, and Hanover Estates. Another 2.5% increase would add an additional 28 students for the school year and push the enrollment above 1460. The current rate of growth would have Manhattan 114 exceeding 1500 students by the year

7 Expenditures Per Pupil
The district continues to provide quality education at a cost to the tax-payer less than the state’s average. D114 spends $13,160 vs. State’s $20,533 District State This slide notes that Manhattan School District 114 continues to be one of the lowest spending districts in the State of Illinois. The Instructional Expenditure per Pupil covers what we spend for instruction while the Operational Expenditure covers our total cost to educate a child.
