St. Petersburg is famous for its beauty and attractions. St. Petersburg is the city of fairy - tale, a dream city. The Northern capital... the city of white nights and drawbridges, beautiful sights, rich history of unpredictable weather. St. Petersburg is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the cultural capital of Russia.

3 "The Bronze Horseman" The Bronze Horseman, an impressive monument to the founder of St Petersburg, Peter the Great, stands on Senatskaia Ploschad' (Square), facing the Neva River and surrounded by the Admiralty,St Isaac's Cathedral and the buildings of the former Senate and Synod - the civil and religious governing bodies of pre-revolutionary Russia. Monument to Peter I opened August 7, Later it got its name from the poem by A.S. Pushkin, but actually made of bronze.

4 The Admiralty The Admiralty building we see today was built between 1806 and 1823 by the architect Adrian Zakharov. He maintained the original plan of the building, but turned it into a marvelous example of the Russian Empire style, with rows of white columns, wonderful relief detail and numerous statues. The gilded spire of the Admiralty (and particularly its weather-vane korablik - "the little ship") is anoth Admiralty shipyards were founded by Peter the great on the left Bank of the Neva river in The project was worked out by Emperor himself and included dockyard, different workshops for construction and repair of ships, as well as warehouses for storage of building materials, ship armament and equipment.

5 Kazan Cathedral Whilst taking a stroll along Nevsky Prospekt you cannot fail to notice the impressive Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan. Kazan Cathedral, constructed between 1801 and 1811 by the architect Andrei Voronikhin, was built to an enormous scale and boasts an impressive stone colonnade, encircling a small garden and central fountain.  Built in , on the place of the stone Church of the Nativity of the virgin (the first half of the 18th century). Architect A.N. Voronikhin. In biennium, the Cathedral housed the Museum of the history of religion and atheism. In 1991, divine services were resumed in 2000, the Cathedral got the status of a Cathedral. The Kazan Cathedral is located in the heart of St. Petersburg on Nevsky Prospekt 25. This Orthodox Cathedral of the St. Petersburg diocese of the Russian Church, one of the largest religious buildings in St. Petersburg.

6 The Cruiser "Aurora" The historical ship Aurora has been turned into a museum and is docked just a few hundred yards upstream from the Cabin of Peter the Great, opposite the "St Petersburg" Hotel. The cruiser, built in St. Petersburg between 1897 and 1900, took an active part in the Russo-Japanese War of and participated in the Tsusima battle, in which most of Russia's Pacific fleet was destroyed.

World famous landmark. Currently, the ship-Museum. One of the most recognizable symbols of St. Petersburg - the cruiser "Aurora" is located at the embankment. The cruiser Aurora became history when October 25, 1917 in 21:45 of the nasal guns of the cruiser "Aurora" sounded a volley of which was the signal for the assault of the Winter Palace. In 1948 the cruiser was put on the «eternal Parking» at the berth..

8 Peterhof Peterhof is an immensely luxurious and beautifully preserved Imperial estate, founded in 1710 byPeter the Great on the shore of the Gulf of Finland (Baltic Sea). It combines several ornate palaces, a number of beautifully landscaped parks and a dazzling array of magnificent statues and fountains, lending it the epithet "The Russian Versailles".

9 Located 30 km from the centre of Saint-Petersburg, Petrodvorets is one of the finest and most famous Palace and Park ensembles of the world.It can be called the main decoration of the «pearl necklace» of St. Petersburg, as unique splendor called the suburbs of the city. The main decoration of Peterhof are hundreds of different type and design of fountains, each unique beauty of the ensemble.

10 Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) and Pavlovsk
The palace we see today was designed by the Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the creator of the Winter Palace and Smolny Cathedral. Most of the restored interiors date back to the time of Empress Elizabeth, the daughter of Peter the Great, though there are some early 19th century interiors too. Catherine the Great chose to live in a separate wing of the palace, and even at the age of 60 she quite happily walked the length of the palace to reach the building’s private church every day.

11 The history of Pavlovsk as the splendid Palace and Park ensemble began on 12 December 1777 when Catherine the great gifted a small land, six kilometers from Tsarskoye Selo, to her son Paul and his wife Maria Fyodorovna on the occasion of the birth of their first son, the future Emperor Alexander I

12 St. Petersburg State University
This impressive red-and-white building stretches for 440 yards and actually consists of 12 buildings, standing side by side. It was built between 1722 and 1742, on Vasilievsky Island, and was intended to house the twelve government bodies of Russia (Peter the Great's Senat, Synod, and ten ministries - collegii). In 1835 the building (by that time standing empty) was given to St. Petersburg University and now serves as its main building.

13 The State Hermitage Museum
From the 1760s onwards the Winter Palace was the main residence of the Russian Tsars. Magnificently located on the bank of the Neva River, this Baroque-style palace is perhaps St. Petersburg’s most impressive attraction. Many visitors also know it as the main building of the Hermitage Museum. The green-and-white three-storey palace is a marvel of Baroque architecture and boasts 1,786 doors, 1,945 windows and 1,057 elegantly and lavishly decorated halls and rooms, many of which are open to the public
