The Judgment Seat of Christ

2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-10 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do

2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-10 at home in the body we are away from the Lord.7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.10 For we must all appear before the judgment

2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-10 seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Earthly Tent -VS- Heavenly Dwelling
Spirit as a deposit Live by faith not by sight All of us will appear before the judgement seat

To receive what is due us for how we live our lives here on Earth
Weather good or bad

ROMANS 14:7-12 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 You, then, why do you judge

ROMANS 14:7-12 your brother or sister ? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.11 It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ” 12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

Each of us will give an account of ourselves to God

1 Corinthians 3:8-15 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.11 For no

1 Corinthians 3:8-15 one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been

1 Corinthians 3:8-15 built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

Our work will be shown for what it is
The day/that day It will be revealed with fire If it survives… If it is burned up…

It is for our reward!

What will be our reward?

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

1 Peter 5:4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

We receive a crown! The crown of the victor The crown of rejoicing
The crown of righteousness The crown of life The crown of glory

What will we get to do with our reward?

Revelation 4:9-11 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and

Revelation 4:9-11 power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

We get to place them before Jesus!

What do we need to know about the Judgment Seat of Christ?
It is a good thing All believers will stand before Him It is the final review of our faithfulness

What will we be judged for?
Our work and motives as a Christian The things we do that effect others Things that effect ourselves and God

Revelation 3:11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
