2. The Rights Respecting School Council
Rights Respecting Schools is a scheme in schools to help pupils grow in confidence, caring and responsible young people in school and in the community and worldwide as part of Unicef. This council is in place to support and improve your rights in school. This council is lead by Mrs Watson.

4. What Is Unicef?-
We live in a dangerous world. Every day children face violence, disease and hunger. They are battered by the chaos of war and disaster and forced to flee their homes. They are denied an education.
Yet with your support we have saved millions of children’s lives. Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation.

5. The Charity Council
The Charity council is designed for us to give support for other countries who may have problems financially and people who live in poverty or in war and we can give help and support to all these countries who need it. Charity is important for giving organisations the money the need to have an impact. While government funding can help, many charities rely on donations from individuals and organizations. This is lead by Miss Bain.

6. The Peer Mentor Council
This council is designed to speak to any one about any problems you may be having. You may be struggling with home issues, issues in school and so on. It is good that there are older pupils because some of the peer mentors may have been through it them selves so they maybe able to relate to your problems. You can find any help you need in the phoenix with Mr McQuade and Miss Bain and all the other peer mentors. This council is lead by Mr McQuade and The Phoenix.

7. The Happy and Healthy Council
This council is to make you feel happy in school and the healthy part is to give you advice on how to be healthy with eating habits and exercise. This council promotes active lifestyles, also they have regular meetings about the school menu and how it can be improved health wise. This council is ran by Mrs Turner and Mrs McDonald.

8. The Transition Council
This Council is to help you with your fears transferring from primary (yr 6) to secondary. This council deals with all your worries and concerns. Pupils from here go out to schools and gives them an insight on whats expected here at Maghull high also gets them excited for moving up to us! This council is ran by Mrs Wallis.

9. The Environment Council
This council is to help keep your school environment a happy clean place to be in. In this council they discuss different ways to keep the school clean with all the litter posters and a lot of litter bins around school and is lead by Miss Bowler.

10. The Community Council
This council is set for us as a school to help people in the community it is aimed to support the elderly's, businesses and the community. Continuously we make the community a nice, safe ,positive and happy community. This council is lead by Mrs Hart.

11. The United Nations Convertion on the Rights of the Child
Every child is entitled to different rights, all organsations concerned with children should work towards what is best for a child.
Some of these rights include:

12. Education
UNCRC Article 28 states: Children have a right to an education. Discipine in schools respect children's human dignity.
Responsibilities

13. A Voice
UNCRC Article 12 states: Children have a right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affects them and to have their opinions taken into account.

14. A clean and Healthy Environment
UNCRC Article 24 states: children have the right to good quality health care and clean water, nutritious food and a clan environment so that they will stay healthy.. To work hard and try new things.
Responsibilities
Pupils:
To treat your environment with respect and take pride in your own health and well being.
Teachers:
To allow students opportunities to stay healthy in a caring and friendly environment

15. Participate
UNCRC Article 15, 31 states: children have the right to meet together and join groups and organization's, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying there rights.
All children have a right to relax and play, and join in wide range of activities
Pupils:
Contribute to activities so that yourself and others can participate feely and enjoy
Teachers:
Ensure provision for the range of opportunities

16. Be Included
UNCRC Article 23 states: Children who have any kind of disability should have special care and support so that they can lead full and independent lives.
