1 Since its inception, C. Stephen Layman’s The Power of Logic has been accompanied by the online Logic Tutor, providing all the exercises from the book in an interactive format and allowing students to check their proofs and build truth tables and Venn diagrams.

2 This walk-through will show you how.
McGraw-Hill Philosophy is proud to announce that you can now incorporate Logic Tutor into a complete, customized course web site using McGraw-Hill’s free PageOut course management system. This walk-through will show you how.

3 To use this feature, you will need to register for PageOut
To use this feature, you will need to register for PageOut. To register, contact your local McGraw-Hill Sales Representative or Marketing Manager Greg Brueck at the end of this walk-through. You can learn more about PageOut at

4 First, log in at www.pageout.net

5 Click “Create a New Course Web Site”

6 Select option 1

7 Set up your new course in “Course Setup”

8 Scroll down, Click to make your course active, Enter the ISBN for Layman: , then Click “Create Course”

9 You will now be at the “Course Settings” screen.

10 Scroll down to see “Power of Logic” as one of your Page Settings options. Click the check box to enable Power of Logic, then click “Save”

11 Your update is now complete!
Click “Assignments” on the left-hand menu

12 Click on “Power of Logic”

13 Set the Radio Button for “Automatically Make Active” so your students’ work will appear in your Gradebook, then click “Update”

14 Your update is now complete!
Click on “Students” on the left-hand menu

15 Click on “Register New Student”

16 Fill in the requested information and click “Save”

17 Your student has been added to your course!

18 Your students will enter your course web site through your unique course web address listed at the top of the page. Click that now to see how it works.

19 Click on your course

20 To do practice exercises on Logic Tutor, click on “Power of Logic”

21 Enter student User ID and Password as set up in Student Registration, then Login

22 Click “Enter – Power of Logic”

23 You are now logged into the Logic Tutor as a student user.

24 Click on a chapter subsection to take quizzes

25 Choose to take quiz questions delivered in random order or choose the specific questions one by one

26 Take the quiz and click “Check Answers” for immediate feedback

27 Logic Tutor responds to the student and at the same time the results are being instantly transmitted to the PageOut Gradebook

28 Back in PageOut, enter “Gradebook,” and see the assignment you just completed as a student
Click on the assignment to see your students’ scores

29 Click on “Assignment Details” to see more information about your students’ work
