2 The PURPOSE of the Student Progression Plan…
The purpose of the Student Progression Plan is to inform school personnel, parents, students and other interested citizens of the School Board rules and administrative procedures required to implement state and local student progression requirements. It is the responsibility of the School Board and district administration to provide students with school instructional and remedial programs that monitor progress, promote continuous achievement, and make provisions for individual differences. [Florida Statute § (1)]

The Student Progression Plan ensures that the required program of study, grade placement, promotion, retention, reporting and special programs are equitable and comprehensive for all students.

8 REVISIONS & UPDATES Legislative Change
Students may meet the online requirement by successfully completing a course in which a student earns an industry certification in information technology, or passing the information technology certification examination or passing an online content assessment, whereby the student demonstrates his or her skills and competency in locating information and applying technology for instructional purposes.

9 REVISIONS & UPDATES Distinguished Scholar Diploma
The Distinguished Scholar Diploma will be awarded based on the following criteria: • obtain a 3.5 overall weighted GPA or higher; • obtain a 3.5 weighted cumulative GPA on all AP/IB courses; • earn 100 hours of community service; • obtain an 1170 SAT or 26 ACT score • complete 2 years of the same World Language; • complete a minimum of 4 AP/IB classes; • pass all state EOC’s with a level 3 or higher or the equivalent AP test; • pass all state EOC’s with a level 3 or higher or the equivalent AP test; and • obtain a score of a level 3 or higher on a minimum of 2 AP exams or a 4 or higher on 2 IB exams.

Beginning with the school year, students who score a level 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement (AP ) exam will be granted high school credit for the course, regardless of their enrollment status in the course and/or course grade.

11 REVISIONS & UPDATES Dual Enrollment Program Changes
Students will be limited to three P.E.R.T attempts at the College, and they must wait a minimum of one semester between attempts. If a student scores within five points of the required P.E.R.T. score, he/she can appeal to the DSC Director of Dual Enrollment for permission to immediately retest at the College. Dual enrolled students may not attempt the same course at the college more than two times. Each time a student enrolls in a course and earns either a grade or a “W” (withdraw).

12 REVISIONS & UPDATES Legislative Change -Seal of Biliteracy
Students graduating during the school year and thereafter will be eligible to participate in the Volusia Seal of Biliteracy Program. Students will have the option of earning a “Gold” or a “Silver” seal which can be affixed to their diploma. The Volusia Seal of Biliteracy program recognizes high school students who have attained a high level of competency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more foreign languages in addition to English.

13 REVISIONS & UPDATES Participation in Graduation
Seniors that have completed the following are permitted to participate in the graduation ceremonies. • completed all graduation requirements; • have a final course grade of a “D” or higher in an EOC course but are waiting on an EOC test score to finalize the EOC course grade; and/or • are receiving a certificate of completion. A student’s diploma will be held until official scores from the Department of Education are received for all End of Course Exams.

14 REVISIONS & UPDATES Legislative Change
A Standard Diploma via Access Courses is available to a student with a disability for whom the IEP team has determined that the Florida Standards Alternate Assessment is the most appropriate measure of the student’s skills, and instruction in the Florida Standards Access Points is the most appropriate means of providing the student access to the general education curriculum. Credit requirements correspond to those required for the Standard High School -24 Credit Diploma and Standard Diploma- 18 Credit ACCEL Diploma Options.

15 Promotion Requirements
Middle School to High School 3 classes in English Language Arts 3 classes in Math 3 classes in Science 3 classes in Social Studies (High School Classes can be taken in MS for MS and HS Credit)

16 High School Graduation Requirements
4 Credits in ELA 4 Credits in Math (Alg 1 and Geo) 3 Credits in Science (Bio and Phy Science) 3 Credits in Social Studies (Econ, Gov, WH and AH) 1 Credit in Performing Fine Arts Electives (8 or 3) ______________ .5 credit PE, .5 credit Personal Fitness Online Course
