1 PNMT - GENERAL PASOLINK NETWORK MANAGEMENT TERMINAL (PNMT) IS A MOBILE TERMINAL CONSISTING OF A PORTABLE COMPUTER WITH A SIMPLIFIED VERSION OF THE PASOLINK NETWORK MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE DEVELOPED FOR MANAGEMENT OF NEC PASOLINK SERIES SHORT HAUL RADIO TRANSMISSION NETWORK. PNMT IS DESIGNED AS AN ONSITE MAINTENANCE TOOL TO BE USED BY THE FIELD ENGINEERS AND TECHNICIANS. IT CONNECTS DIRECTLY TO THE LA PORT OF THE PASOLINK IDU. PNMT CAN BE USED TO MONITOR LOCAL / REMOTE EQUIPMENT STATUS AND PROVIDES CONTROL CAPABILITIES SIMILAR TO THOSE AVAILABLE IN PNMS. PNMT IS ALSO USED TO DOWN LOAD THE SYSTEM AND CONFIGURATION FILES TO THE PM CARD AND UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE IN THE IDU WHEN CONNECTED TO AN IDU PNMT CAN MONITOR NOT ONLY THE LOCAL EQUIPMENT BUT ANY REMOTE NETWORK ELEMENT UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE CENTRAL PM CARD. TO USE THE PNMT, PM CARD SHOULD BE MOUNTED IN THE IDUs. PNMT

3 PNMT COMMUNICATION INTERFACE
COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE PNMT AND THE RADIO NETWORK EQUIPMENT CAN BE : VIA THE LA PORT OF THE LOCAL PASOLINK EQUIPMENT VIA THE DIGITAL SERVICE CHANNEL DSC TO A REMOTE PASOLINK EQUIPMENT LA PORT IS LOCATED ON THE FRONT OF THE EQUIPMENT AND CONSISTS OF A DB15 CONNECTOR. LA PORT CONNECT THE PM CARD IN THE IDU VIA A SERIAL CABLE TO THE RELEVANT COMMUNICATION PORT OF THE PNMT COMPUTER. PROPERTIES OF THE LA PORT ARE AS FOLLOWS: PORT CONFIGURATION RS-232 CONNECTOR TYPE D-SUB 15 (FEMALE) BITS PER SECOND RATE UP TO 19200 LA PORT PNMT

5 START UP CONNECT THE PNMT PC COM1 PORT AND THE PASOLINK IDU LA PORT USING A RS232C CABLE PREPARATION From the Control Panel select Phone and Modem Options. Add a Standard bps Modem and assign it to the COM1 port ( or the COM port to be used) DOUBLE CLICK ON THE PNMT SHORTCUT ICON ON THE DESKTOP OR CLICK ON START>>PROGRAM>>PNMT>>PNMT Create a Dial-up connection using the above standard modem and name it as “pnmt” Install the NEC PNMT software See PNMT Install Manual for details PNMT PROGRAM STARTUP AND TRIES TO GET CONNECTED TO PASOLINK EQUIPMENT USING THE DIAL-UP CONNECTION “PNMT” AFTER CONNECTING TO THE PASOLINK EQUIPMENT TRIES TO ACQUIRE DATA FROM THE LOCAL EQUIPMENT AND THE REMOTE EQUIPMENT TO DISPLAY ON THE LINK SUMMARY WINDOW PNMT

21 ALARM BUZZER CLICK ON ALARM BUZZER ON THE SYSTEM DROP DOWN MENU TO OPEN THE ALARM BUZZER SETTING WINDOW. SELECT NO SOUND TO DISABLE THE BUZZER SELECT WAVE FILE TO ENABLE THE BUZZER. THE BUZZER SOUND CAN BE CHANGED BY SELECTING A DIFFERENT WAV FILE. USE BROWSE TO LOCATE THE PATH TO THE WAV FILE. CLICK HERE TO TEST THE BUZZER SOUND CLICK OK TO IMPLEMENT THE OPTION SELECTED OR CLICK CANCEL TO EXIT WITHOUT CHANGING THE SETTINGS. SELECT BEEP TO ENABLE THE BUZZER WITH BEEP FREQUENCIES INSTEAD OF WAVE FILE SOUND BEEP FREQUENCY CAN BE DEFINED BY CLICKING ON EDIT AND SELECTING THE FREQUENCIES AND DURATION FOR EACH FREQUENCY. LIST MENU CLICK THE SEARCH FOR NETWORK ELEMENT TO SEARCH AND LIST THE OTHER NEs IN THE NETWORK TO VIEW A REMOTE NE FROM THE NETWORK ELEMENT LIST, SELECT AND HIGHLIGHT THE NE IN THE LIST. THEN CLICK THE CONNECT TO NETWORK ELEMENT FROM THE LIST DROP DOWN MENU. SELECT YES FROM THE DIALOG BOX. THE SELECTED NE AND ITS OPPOSITE NE WILL BE DISPLAYED IN THE LINK SUMMARY WINDOW. ODU SECTION OF THE EQUIPMENT SETUP WINDOW FOR THE SELECTED PASOLINK HAS THREE CONTROLS, FREQUENCY PLAN , TX ATTENUATION AND TX POWER CONTROL SETTING. IN THE CASE OF (1+1) HOT STANDBY CONFIGURATION, FREQUENCY IS SET FOR BOTH ODUs. CLICK ON THE FREQUENCY PLAN BUTTON TO SELECT THE ODU TX AND RX FREQUENCIES. INFORMATION ABOUT THE ODU FREQUENCY BAND ARE DISPLAYED This information may include : TX frequency used is High band or Low band Frequency Sub band used A, B, C, or D. Default Channel and TX frequency set in the ODU. CH Separation shift frequency CLICK ON THE TX ATTENUATION BUTTON TO SET THE TX ATTENUATION FOR MTPC. REFER TO THE RADIO FREQUENCY ASSIGNMENT TABLES TO SELECT THE CHANNEL NUMBER CORRESPONDING TO THE REQUIRED TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE FREQUENCIES. SELECT THE CHANNEL NUMBER AND THE CORRESPONDING TX AND RX FREQUENCIES FOR THE SELECTED CHANNEL. ARE DISPLAYED CLICK THE EXECUTE BUTTON TO CHANGE THE FREQUENCIES. SELECTS THE TX POWER CONTROL MODE ATPC OR MTPC. WHEN ATPC IS SELECTED, “ATPC RX THRESHOLD” , ”ATPC MAX POWER” AND “ATPC MIN POWER” BUTTONS ARE ACTIVE. WHEN TC CONTROL MODE IS ATPC, TX ATTENUATION SETTING VALUE IS IGNORED WHEN TX CONTROL MODE IS CHANGED FROM ATPC TO MTPC, THE TX ATTENUATION SETTING IS AUTOMATICALLY SET TO THE ATPC MAX POWER SETTING VALUE. RX THRESHOLD LEVEL WHEN THE MONITORED RX SIGNAL LEVEL FALLS BELOW THIS LEVEL, CONTROL SIGNAL SENT TO THE OPPOSITE STATION INITIATE THE ATPC FUNCTION.
