6 Program Description The Horticulture Program at ARC transforms and enriches people’s lives: We offer classes both day and night so students can receive a certificate or degree during either time frame We welcome and support a diverse population of students; diverse in : Educational goals, Ethnicity, Gender, Age, Economic status, … Our hands-on classes permit all types of learners to gain educational and career success The Horticulture Program at ARC is strong, and flexible: Facilities are maintained and updated Curriculum remains current via the hard work of our faculty Our program is well regarded by the general public Industry recognizes our students as qualified employees, prepared to be successful members of the industry. We have a robust working relationship with local and statewide industry and education professionals in our field We have many graduates working successfully in the field Brief Description of your program. What are the planning implications? Objectives addressing strengths and challenges identified in program review Personnel; continue to convert the IA position to fulltime maintain two fulltime faculty Facilities; promote the need for dedicated classroom space continue facilities maintenance and replacements as needed Curriculum; implement new program recently developed maintain a congruous offering of courses Resource allocations supporting these objectives Personnel; participation in workshops, career fairs, and seminars Local industry; advisory meetings and co-sponsorship of CLCA Skills Test, Green Gardener program
