Singular Nouns = JUST ONE person, place, or thing. To write the possessive form of any singular noun, write the noun just as it is (Do not add or leave out any letters). Then add an apostrophe and an “s”. Example: Team + ‘s = team’s Jamie is the team’s new mascot.

5 The Possessive Forms of Plural Nouns
Plural Nouns = MORE THAN ONE person, place, or thing. The plural of most nouns Is formed by adding an s: skates, hours, and horses. There are few exceptions, such as women and geese. These plurals are formed by changing the words. If you are not sure how to form the plural of a noun, look it up in the dictionary. How the possessive form of a plural noun is written depends on the ending of the noun.

6 Add only an apostrophe to form the possessive of a plural noun that ends in s.
Trees + ‘ = trees’ The trees’ limbs whipped in the wind. Boys + ‘ = boys’ The boys’ pants were covered with mud. Add only an ‘s to form the possessive of a plural noun that does not end in s. Children + ‘s = children’s The children’s swings were damaged. Mice + ‘s = mice’s The mice’s nests did not survive the storm.

7 Steps to writing the Possessive of a Plural Noun:
Write the plural of the noun. Look at the ending of the noun. If the word ends in S, add only an apostrophe If the word does not end in S, add an apostrophe and an S. NEVER use an apostrophe when writing regular plural nouns. Apostrophes are used only when the noun is possessing something. 
