3 Introduction Education in Britain is different from other countries. It may be the time we work, the subjects we learn or what ages we go to school till. Schools in France are different because they get a Wednesday afternoon off but have to go in Saturday morning instead. It is the same in other countries where they might not teach ICT or Drama.

4 Private or Public? In the UK there are two types of education system:
Public is funded through taxes and is where the majority go. Private is a tiny percentage of the population and has to pay fees.

8 Subjects At primary school you learn subjects consisting of Maths, English, Science and P.E. In Secondary School you learn far more subjects and more a day.

9 Citizenship and Guidance
Typical school week Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Before break Maths Before lunch English After lunch History Science Music P.E Geography Before home time Topic RE and ICT This is a primary school timetable. Topic is the subject they are talking about like Egyptians or electricity. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday P1 Art Design Ict P.E Spanish P2 Maths History P3 Music Citizenship and Guidance French English Break P4 Geography R.E P5 Science Lunch P6 Dance/Drama P7 This is a secondary school timetable which has more subjects in. Citizenship and Guidance is the world around you.

10 Special schools Some disabled people can’t go to normal schools so they go to special schools. These schools cater for their needs while realising that they may not be able to go to a normal school. Children with slight disability can go to a normal school but might have a helper to help them with their school work.
