2 The Sydney Harbor Bridge is a steel through arch bridge across Sydney Harbor that carries rail, vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district and the North Shore. Geography Australia is the smallest inhabited continent of the seven continents, and can also be considered the largest island in the world. In fact, it is an island continent. People Ayers Rock Aborigines make up about 2% of Australia’s population. They are the indigenous Australians who originally settled on the continent over 60,000 years ago. Ayers Rock lies in the center of Australia. This place in the outback is far from any city. Ayer Rock is called Uluru by the Aborigines. It is the largest standing rock formation in the world. Animals Australia is home to many animal species. On road signs, you can see a wombat and kangaroo. They are both marsupials, which means, they carry their babies in their pouch. Wombats are mainly night active, but also can be seen out looking for food on cool overcast days.
