historykingscollege.blogspot.com The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty signed after WWI. WWI ended in 1918 around the time of the Russian Revolution and other Russian events.

to-the-manner-born.blogspot.com The treaty had been divided into fifteen sections. Each of the section deals with a particular aspect of the treaty.

flickr.com The treaty was signed at the Versailles Palace near Paris. It was signed between Germany and the Allies.

academickids.com The three most important politicians were David Lloyd George who was from Great Britain, Georges Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson. They were known as the “Big 3”.

shalligettoblighty.co.uk David Lloyd George was from Great Britain. He had two views on how Germany should be treated. His public image was easy. He was a politician and politicians needed the support of the public to win elections. But in his own private time he was concerned about the rise of communism in Russia and he feared that it might spread to Western Europe.

historycooperative.org Georges Clemenceau was from France. He only had one view on how Germany should be Treated. His view was that Germany should be brought to its knees so that Germany could never start a war again.

peoplequiz.com Woodrow Wilson was from America. He had been stunned by the severity of the great war. He could not understand how an advanced civilization could have reduced itself so that it had created so much devastation.

emersonkent.com The Treaty of Versailles was presented to German leaders to sign on May 7,1919. The treaty forced the Germans to concede territories to Belgium, Chczechoslovakia, and Poland.

historyplace.com The Treaty was signed on June 28th, Months after arguments and negotiations between the “Big Three” as to what the treaty should contain.

to-the-manner-born.blogspot.com The most humiliating portion of the treaty for the defeated Germany was Article 231, which was known as the “war guilt cause.” This article forced German nation to accept complete responsibility for starting WWI.

unostamps.nl The newly formed German democratic government saw the treaty as a “dictated peace.” But France thought it didn’t help to settle the international problems that started WWI.

nobelprize.org In America the desire for the government to adopt a policy of isolation and leave Europe alone was growing. Wilson wanted America to concentrate on its self, and he wanted an American input into Europe to be kept minimum.

Life.com Wilson did believe that Germany should be punished. But he wanted them punished in a way that they would reconcile instead of try to get revenge.

micahismyname.blogspot.com What does the treaty mean? The treaty can be divided into a number of sections; territorial, military, financial and general.

Territorial product-reviews.net The Saar, Danzig, and Memel were put under control of the League of Nations. The people in those regions could vote whether they wanted to stay or they could go. The League of Nations also took control of Germany’s overseas colonies.

Military artofmanliness.com The German army was reduce to 100,000 men and was not allowed tanks. German was also not allowed an air force and was only allowed six capitol naval ships.

financial 1920sera.com Combined with the financial penalties linked to reparations it was clear to Germany that all of its allies wanted to make the country bankrupt. Germany was also forbidden to form one super state, in an attempt to keep there economy good.

General brokenworld.wikispaces.com Germany had to admit full responsibility for starting the war. Also Germany had to pay all the Reparations from WWI.

ctevans.net The treaty satisfied the “Big Three” because it kept Germany weak. But it left Germany angry and they felt as a country they were treated unfairly.

sloblogs.thetribunenews.com The German government was given three weeks to accept the terms of the treaty. They responded with a list of complaints which were mostly ignored. The treaty was looked at by many as too great a departure from U.S. presidents Wilson's fourteen points and by the British as to harsh in its treatment to Germany.
