A form of government in which power is held by one central authority. (ex. Cuba, the UK) Federal A form of government in which power is divided between one central and several regional authorities. (ex. Australia, Germany) Confederation A voluntary association of independent states with a common purpose that agree to certain limitations on their freedom to establish a weak central government. 4 Governments divide power between central and regional governments.
The amount of power either has determines the term used to define the government system. Some governments can be more than one type of system. Where is the power?

5 Unitary Power is held by one central authority.
The central authority has all the power to make laws and decisions for the people. Ex. Chile, Cuba, Egypt, France, Ireland, South Korea, the UK, Iran, Zimbabwe Unitary
