Before Christmas, we took part in a Christmas Jumper Day to raise money for Save the Children. We received a certificate from them, thanking us and telling us that we had raised a huge £150.39! Thank you and congratulations to everyone who took part!

Recently, we received a letter from Nick Gibb (the government’s education minister), informing us that we were in the top 1% of primary schools in England for “achievement in writing”, because 100% of our pupils reached or exceeded the expected standard in writing!

On the 14th March, a selection of Year 5 and 6 children played in a football tournament at Rugely Leisure Centre (captained by Logan and Freya). On Wednesday 29th March, Isabel, Freya, Logan, Guy, Chloe, Lizzie and Amy (Year 6) participated in a netball tournament at the Hart School. They are through to the finals next week - well done to all who took part. On Tuesday 28th March Jamie, David, Saffie, Bella, Thailya, Sam, Rosie, Emerald, Oliver and Flin (Year 5) took part in a cross country tournament – well done for running a mile over different terrains.

We recently took part in the ‘10 Million Minutes Reading Challenge’
We recently took part in the ‘10 Million Minutes Reading Challenge’. The winner received a reading area worth £10,000, and we came 23rd out of all primary schools in the UK! Thank you and congratulations to everyone who took part - we hope that it inspired you to read lots more books. On Monday 20th March, we participated in World Storytelling Day, and some brilliant storytellers came in to tell us some fantastic stories! Lots of people came dressed in book costumes, and some children told stories to other classes. The librarians even held a teddy bear’s picnic and read ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ at lunchtime. We want to say a huge thank you to Ian Douglas and Peter Chand for coming in to school. Congratulations to Sophie (Reception), who designed some amazing book covers for our poetry book!

Not long ago, we hosted a book fair (run by Ben, Leo, Logan, Joe, Henry, Chloe and Lizzie), and raised £183 to buy new books for our school. A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped run it, and to everyone who bought a book.

On 7th March, Class 1 performed a fantastic assembly about the Great Fire of London. It was so interesting, and we all really enjoyed it. Well done Class 1, you were all brilliant!

On 30th March, Class 5 performed an amazing assembly about the Egyptians. We had such a great time watching it (and learnt so much too). Well done Class 5, you were all fantastic!

Year 6: Isabella, Heidi, Esme and Archie
