Origin: U.S. states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee
How it arrived?: Anglers use them as baits
Organisms it affected: native crayfish, worms, snails, leeches
Impact on economy/ environment: reducing the variety of aquatic foods, decreasing the amount of native crayfish for seafood industry
Method of control: restoring predators of bass, and pesticides

Origin: Europe, Asia
How it arrived: Introduction by Spanish explorer to the United States
What organisms are effected: trees, seedlings and eating acorns
Impact on environment/ economy: not many acorns are available after they eat them to regrow, trees are damaged from boars rubbing their scent on them, and consuming seedlings
Methods of control: trapping, shooting and quarantining feral pigs

4. Meal Moth Origin: Europe and Asia
How it arrived: Infested food from Europe and Asia
Organisms it effects: Humans
Impacts on environment/economy: Eat corn, wheat and dry pasta, stores can become infested and lose product in turn losing money
Methods of control: pesticides and constant checking of products to catch early stages

5. Giant hogweed Origin: Europe and Asia
How it arrived: Introduced for ornamental planting and by bird feces
Organisms it effects: Humans
Impacts on environment/economy: found in rich soils used for planting, must be removed before planting carefully (loss time for farmers)
Methods of control: Herbicide application

6. Khapra beetle Origin: South Asia How it arrived: Rice Imports
Organisms it effects: Humans, Grain products
Impacts on environment/economy: Destroys grain products and loss product results in loss profit
Methods of control: quarantine of rice imported into the U.S from countries with known beetle problem

How it arrived: Ornamental purposes and feeding cattle
Organisms it effects: Trees, bushes, flowers
Impacts on environment/economy: high value trees destroyed and destruction of the diversity of plants
Methods of control: Sprayed with herbicides

Impacts environment/economy: Covers bottom of streams choking out existing organisms

Impacts environment/economy: Can erode away banks and be aggressive
Methods of control: Do Not release it if caught freeze it and call the DEC
