1 Key Questions What do we mean by health and also wellbeing? Does it have an impact on outcomes for us all? What does our knowledge of child development teach us about health and wellbeing? Understanding wellbeing is closely linked to understanding happiness – how can we `teach` this?

2 Reflecting on our own wellbeing
On your own…. Complete the `wellbeing` wheel, giving yourself a rough score on where you are doing well or need to improve….. Then, with a partner, talk through your scores and see if you can each agree on a plan to improve at least one area…….. Take care in managing the discussion as some reflections could be very personal

3 Wheel of wellbeing 5’ Take feedback

15 The link between physical and mental health
Let`s now reflect on some of the ways we can affect the physical wellbeing of staff as well as pupils in school……

16 `Anyone who has ever smoked, drank alcohol, tea or coffee or eaten chocolate knows that such products can improve one’s mood, at least a little and temporarily. What seems to be less common is an understanding that some foods can have a lasting influence on mood and mental wellbeing because of the impact they have on the structure and function of the brain.` Feeding Minds - The impact of food on mental health ( Mental Health Foundation, 2006) Personal comments on this? Effects of food in a small way?
