2 Job Description A personal trainer is a fitness professional involved in exercise prescription and instruction (can include nutrition). They motivate clients by setting goals and providing feedback and accountability to clients. Trainers also measure their client's strengths and weaknesses with fitness assessments.

3 Education/certification
Complete (in BC for the most part): BCRPA (BC Recreation and Parks Association) Fitness Theory course and exam Basic CPR and First Aid certificate BCRPA weight training course/and exam 20 in gym/supervised one-on-one instructor programs BCRPA personal trainer theory course and exam BCRPA personal trainer’s practical skills examination

4 Salary Anywhere from minimum wage to $60/hour (depending on location, this is for Vancouver) Can depend on experience and where you might work Average salary is $20-25/hour

5 Settings In a gym Yoga/aerobics/personal studio
Work from home (you have the equipment and clients see you) Work by seeing clients in their homes

6 Interesting facts/additional info
Educational level, job experience and demographic make-up of the location you are training all play a crucial role in the amount of money you can make. It is also important to note that since most personal training positions are part-time, compensation in the form of health insurance and a retirement package are unlikely.
