London is situated on the river Thames
London is situated on the river Thames. Its population is more than 8 million people. The city is very old and beautiful. It founded more than two thousand years ago.

The main attraction is London places of interest. Among them there are: Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, London Bridge, The Tower of London.

It was founded in 1050 as a monastery, but later it was rebuilt. Nearly all the kings and queens of Britain were crowned and buried there. The Abbey is a symbol of English traditions. One of the treasures of the Abbey is the ancient Coronation Chair.

Its founder, Edward the Confessor built it on the site of an old church called Saint Peter's. The Abbey was blessed at Christmas in 1065 and Edward died a week later. Edward the Confessor was made a saint after his death and he is buried in a special chapel dedicated to him.

This cathedral is the most famous of all English architecture. The largest bell in England is in the Clock Tower of the cathedral. Inside the cathedral you can see many monuments to generals and admirals.

The square is named in commemoration of the naval battle of Trafalgar in On the middle of the square the nelson column was erected. Four bronze lions are at the base of the column.

There are many parks in London . The famous London parks are Hyde Park, St. James's Park and Green Park.

In Hyde Park people like to sit on the grass or read books on the benches under the trees. They also like to visit a beautiful rose garden there and to go boating on the lake.

In St. James Park you can sit by the lake and watch swans, geese, ducks and other birds which live there.

Green park is a quiet place where you can see a mother-hedgehog with her young ones or squirrels jumping in the tree.
