1 Vistula river – the queen of Polish rivers

2 The Vistula river starts in the south of Poland on the slopes of the Barania Mountain in the Silesian Beskid, where in the village called Vistula the White Vistula meets the Black Vistula.

3 Later it flows across all Poland and
in the north of our country it flows into the Gulf of Gdansk and the Baltic sea.

4 Why do we call the Vistula river the queen of Polish rivers
Why do we call the Vistula river the queen of Polish rivers? Because it is the biggest and the longest river in Poland. Its length is km, and its basin area is about square kilometres. The Vistula river basin occupies 54% of our country.

5 The Vistula river in the past was used to transport goods from south of Poland to the Baltic sea. On the both sides of the river there are located many ports.

6 Currently the Vistula river is mainly important as a place of breeding and life for many species of birds and animals.

7 For people it is a wonderful holiday destination, tourist attraction and a good place for fishing.

8 The Vistula river is the last big river in Europe which can be called natural. Its landscape in large part is the last of this type of natural landscape of unregulated river in Europe

9 The Vistula valley is divided into three sections: the upper, middle and lower Vistula

10 The central section of the Vistula river, between Zawichost and Plock is an example of a unique natural landscape of a large river. It is one of the most valuable (next to the Biebrza Marshes and the Bialowieza Forest) ecosystems in Europe

11 It is born here and exists 2/3 Polish species of birds, including many rare and endangered in Poland and Europe. For example: grey heron and common gull Their existence depends on the breeding and feeding grounds in the valley of the middle Vistula.

12 On the Vistula River there are located a number of interesting, wonderful Polish cities, including the capital city of our country - Warsaw, where we live. Warsaw is located on the central part of the river. On its right wild, unregulated bank, there is a beautiful beach that delights people all the summer.

13 Its most famous part is Poniatówka near the National Stadium

14 Between the beaches you can walk or cycle, beacuse here are hiking and cycling trails The place is full of breathtaking views.

15 At night the beach turns into a place for partying
At night the beach turns into a place for partying People make bonfires and have barbecues. From the beach you can see the beautiful sunset over the city. The right wild side of the river is also very important for animals, especially for birds.

16 On the left bank of the Vistula River there is the biggest tourist attraction in the capital of our country -the Old Town with the Royal Castle, the former residence of Polish kings.

17 Contemporary attraction of this side of the Vistula River is
the Multimedia Fountain Park, where extraordinary shows in the open air take place.

18 Many of the dancing fountains of different shapes, lots of colorful lights and good music attract a lot of Warsaw residents and tourists.

19 Thanks to the Vistula River we can go on a boat trip or cruise ship as well as go rowing.

20 On the Vistula River there are also organized
attractive canoeing races.

21 In summary, we believe that the Vistula River - the queen of Polish rivers is the national treasure of all Polish people.
