3. KPA Mission
To be the guide and leader in comprehensive child healthcare delivery through promotion of best practice in paediatrics training, research, policy formulation and capacity building of members

4. Recognizing that health is central to all the SDGs
We shall become child survival advocates by getting involved in all aspects of the changing health landscape
We shall strive to eliminate poverty caused by high costs of health care by advocating for every Kenyan household to be enrolled in the NHIF scheme

5. Vaccinology
The successful Introduction of pneumonia Vaccine into the national immunization program has modified pneumonia etiology and this will require a different treatment approach
Recommend adjustment of training curricula on clinical presentation and treatment recommendations to reflect the new probable etiologies

6. Nutrition Government policies in place but not effective
Advocacy by health workers is required to inform and motivate decision makers
Public–private Partnerships essential in forging a united front to achieve national food and nutrition security

7. Devolution Training of healthcare workers should be a priority
KPA needs to work together with the county and national governments to improve the child healthcare services
Advocate for allocation of resources towards medical research

8. Infectious Diseases
Improve antibiotic prescription practices to reduce resistance and improve patient outcomes.
Help in developing, implementing and evaluating antibiotic stewardship programs at our places of work
Advocate for policy change to delay BCG vaccination in HIV Exposed infants until HIV infection status is confirmed
Provide leadership in the search for feasible interventions to reduce neonatal mortality e.g PSBI guidelines implementation

9. Neurology
Malnutrition in neurologically impaired children is often overlooked and inadequately managed
Advocate for closer partnership between nutrition and disability programs to close this gap
More research on nutritional interventions for neuro-developmental disorders
