FACULTY OF ARTS The University of Leeds has built a comprehensive programme of support for teachers in response to the new A levels: Aimed at ensuring teachers feel ‘in control’ and confident to teach their subject area in the midst of changes Involving teachers from the start, ensuring a meaningful, relevant and useful programme of support All of our work with teachers is offered free of charge to ensure it is accessible for all to benefit from Fits into the wider context of a varied programme of activities for students in all secondary key stages

School of Languages, Cultures and Societies FACULTY OF ARTS School of Languages, Cultures and Societies FACULTY OF ARTS Video collection Released in January 2016, a collection of over 30 short videos featuring experts in French, German and Spanish film and literature, offering advice on teaching the areas, including keeping students engaged and linking the areas to teaching of the languages per se. Provided with suggested further reading and transcripts. Available here:

FACULTY OF ARTS West Yorkshire MFL Teachers’ Network Founded in September 2014 following a successful teachers’ conference during which teachers expressed an interest in meeting together more regularly Meets three times a year in a local Sixth Form college Programme including speakers from AQA, CIOL and ALCAB, and discussion sessions based on new specifications Ensures consistent links between schools and the University – lines of communication are two-way and always open

FACULTY OF ARTS CPD programmes for teachers of French and German Day-long programmes running concurrently with student study days each spring – making the most of teachers’ time out of school Academic sessions in teaching film and literature Practical and applicable content, delivered by relevant experts Providing a space for teachers to learn more about their subject area – something they tell us they always want to do more!

FACULTY OF ARTS MFL Teachers’ Conference – 6th June Teachers from across the country and from many different school types Bringing teachers together to share ideas and best practice Sessions delivered by area experts, focusing on texts and films from new specifications – directly applicable to teaching Valuable small group and 1-1 interaction with subject specialists
