2 Belfast in the 1900s The numbers of people started to grow.
By 1901 Belfast had a population of 349,000. The City Hall was built in 1906. It wasn’t very nice sometimes in the early 1900s in Belfast. People where very poor. Harland and Wolff where the biggest employers in Belfast

3 Why build the Titanic ? The Titanic was built to carry British and US Mail, general cargo and frozen meat, and to convey first class passengers in luxury, second class passengers in comfort and third class passengers with economy.

4 The building of Titanic
It took just over three years to build and fit out the RMS Titanic. It was built by Harland and Wolff. The Titanic was built in Belfast. The Titanic was very had to build. The builders where happy because all their hard work had made up for building the Titanic. 17 people died during building the Titanic and Olympic.

6 Classes on the Titanic First class was the best and the ticket was between £60 and £260. Second class was in the middle it could cost between £13 and £79. Third class was the worst it could cost at the least £7. The classes where not allowed to mix. You would have to be very rich to be in 1st class

7 Maiden Voyage The Titanic would first go through the North Atlantic then it would go to Southampton and then it would go to Cherbourg and then to Queenstown in Ireland and then to New York. This was a luxury for the people on the Titanic. It was very exciting for all of the people on the Titanic that day.

8 The Titanic sank on the Atlantic Ocean.
The sinking of Titanic The Titanic sank on the Atlantic Ocean. The Titanic sank on the 14 April 1912. The Titanic hit an iceberg during the maiden voyage. More than 1,500 people died in the disaster. The people on the Titanic got very scared when the Titanic started to sink. It sank at It took less than three hours for the Titanict sink after it hit the iceberg.

9 Rescuing the passengers
The Titanic brought 20 lifeboats but the Titanic was able to hold 64 but it was too cluttered. 705 people out f the 2,228 people on the lived after the crash. On the first few lifeboats they weren’t all full to their capacity.

10 Survivors – were the survivors mostly men or women and children?
C.H Lightoller was the only officer to survive after the Titanic had sank.
