St. Julie Billiart Amersfoort Coesfeld Community founded in 1850 in Coesfeld Received training from Amersfoort Sisters who were descendants of St. Julie’s congregation Sister Mary Aloysia, SND Foundress

4 Fr. Bernard Overberg Saw teaching as a vocation and the person of the teacher as the most significant factor. He promoted a mature integration of spirituality and educational practice in an atmosphere of love, making learning both practical and engaging.

5 Overberg’s approach fostered a classroom atmosphere of
respect and love student-centered learning questions conversation narrative education related to daily life religious instruction that touched both mind and heart.

11 Defining Sponsorship Sponsorship of an apostolate or ministry is a formal relationship between a recognized Catholic organization (Sisters of Notre Dame) and a legally formed entity (e.g. Notre Dame Academy Schools of Los Angeles) entered into for the sake of promoting and sustaining the Church’s mission in the world. Notre Dame Academy Elementary School, in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, is committed to providing a thoroughly Catholic education in an academically challenging environment designed to nurture socially responsible citizens.

CHRIST-LIKE SLE 1- An NDAE graduate is a Christ-like Catholic who lives like Jesus through service and leadership. COMPETENT SLE 2 – An NDAE graduate is a well-rounded, competent student who solves problems independently, communicates effectively, has good study skills and meets goals. COMPASSIONATE SLE 3 – An NDAE graduate is a compassionate citizen who always respects others and takes action to make a difference in the world.
