Taught for 5 Years in Brooklyn and Queens

7. ELA Expeditionary Learning Words are introduced every Monday
4 modules created by New York State
Eight to nine weeks of instruction (3 units/module)
FOCUS: building literacy skills while students learn about the world
Each module contains a text that the entire class will be reading.
Most of the reading of that text will be done at home.
MODULE 1: Stories of Human Rights

MODULE 3: Sports and Athletes’ Impact on Culture
MODULE 4: Natural Disasters in the Western Hemisphere
The district has formed an ELA committee that is looking at a variety of different resources in order to continue to BEST support the students.
